This book is the benchmark of bad textbooks. I refuse to believe the text ever saw an editor before it went into print; the authors - especially McPhee himself - wouldn't be able to recognize DIDACTICS if it came flying into his face; the text is extremely convulted written, confusing, unstructured, concepts are never connected, void of clarity, and in many instances just straight out wrong or self-contradictory; the book has no intention of actually conveying knowledge, instead it keeps digging ... This book has too little information for a med student, even in first or second year. A few areas are relatively well covered, but it's neither basic enough to be used as a learning tool nor detailed enough to be used as a reference. I use it once in a while, but only in conjuction with Harrison's, UptoDate, and other such references. You'll still need to go back to a Pathololgy and a Physiology text to find what you're looking for.

I appreciate the promptness with which your company sends its products out, and I also appreciate that they remain in the new condition on arrival to me. Thank You. One drawback I have seen to your site is that when you end up being late sending an item there are times when you back the date up for several more weeks, which when your a student you need these books to arrive as soon as possible to keep up with reading assignments.

This is an excellent pathophysiology book available in the market. I am right now preparing for my step 2 but I wish I would have used this book for my step 1. I have a decent score on my step 1 and I have taken the exam recently and I think if somebody masters this book they can rock the exam. This book gives excellent information regarding many diseases. I am trying to study this book right now with CMDT, which is also by the same author. Because CMDT is a very concise text book of IM it doesn't ... Read More

I found the book vague and unclear. It was recommended as a "reference" book for a graduate level pathophysiology course and it was the first book I returned. There are several other books on pathophysiology that are on the market for about the same price or a bit more that are MUCH more thorough and useful for undergraduate, graduate or medical student reference. I would NOT recommend this book for anyone looking at any type of indepth medical information.
