im an old fan,seen em numerous times,but i stopped just like many of you did.i picked this up to give them one last chance....i'm glad i did!!!!this should've been the album after and justice.they're finally writing memorable riffs again,like they use too.i know many will hate me for this,but i actually like this album better that lightning...hmmm

I have to say I was shocked, stunned, on my first listen to this album. I had not idea that Metallica had any of their 80s sound left. I have been listening to, and a die hard follower of Metallica since 1985. After St. Anger, I did not know what to expect. After seeing the fallout of the band's recording on "Some Kind of Monster", I fully understood the raw sound of that album. I was very sceptical, and have stayed away from buying Death Magnetic based on the last 15 years of Metallica music. Then I heard the album from start to finish this weekend. I went out and picked it up the next morning.

This is probably the sorriest excuse for an album (second only to LOAD) that Metallica has excreted in their illustrious career. Oh, Cliff Burton must be spinning in his grave.
