Rating: - Im addicted!!!This is the kind of book that just keeps you wanting more. I cant seem to put it down. The way the author describes everything it makes you feel like your there and keeps you reading on. The story line is very intriguing. Rating: - It was good, but as not as good as everyone made it out to be...I picked up this book after realizing that the movie coming out was based on it, so I decided to read to book because I've heard so much about it from fans who would basically attacked anyone that insulted it... and because I didn't want the movie to ruin any chance of me wanting to read the book. I began reading and at first, it was really interesting; kept me reading and wanting to hear more about this Edward Cullen (for that secret fangirl in me). The escalating romance was interesting but then it began to remind me of the one reason why I hated Romeo and Juliet: Bella only knew this person for how many days before realizing that she was madly in love with him and would sacrifice her life for this man that couldn't die. That was when three words popped into my mind: Cheesy Love Story. But nevertheless, I still read on because I was a glutton for these stories every now and then. By the time I began the last couple chapters, I was completely aware that this story was aimed at young teenage girls because the very few action scenes had so much more potential that could have made the book so much more appealing to more than one gender. Who knows, maybe she was saving them for its sequel. Or maybe the movie will play it up a bit and change the story around a little. With 30 pages left, I had little enthusiasm to finish the book because it became so cliché and repetitive... However, the book did have some good and new concepts, and after all, it kept me busy for a good 3 days. I still would suggest it to other people to read, but as far as I know, my friends and I who read it were simply like, "It was eh, not bad, just eh." But then again, we're not high school girls gossiping about who's the hottest guy in the cafeteria... maybe if we read this a few years ago then we might have felt different about it. Rating: - AmazingStephanie Meyers is a grand author. Her books are absolutely absorbing and completely thrilling. A wonderful book to read. Alice Cullen is the best! Rating: - Romance novel for teenagers (with vampires)I picked this up due to the amount of hype and hubbub about the series. I was hoping to find another series I could (ahem) sink my teeth into. I had previously read "The Host" by the same author, and enjoyed it, so I thought this would somewhat the same. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. All of the characters are two-dimensional. Bella shows some promise at the beginning, but quickly falls off into infatuation -- the only thing she thinks about is Edward. And I thought she was supposed to be an "outcast," what with the not fitting in comments, etc. But she seems to have fit in right away without even any effort. The text is repetitive, to say the least. The book could have been half as long if Meyer had limited herself in the number of times she told us that Edward was cold, and beautiful, and perfect in every way. Oh, and how many times do we need to hear about Bella's scent? Speaking of perfection -- every time Bella calls him "perfect" or says "he can do anything," his family laughs. But we never get to see why. I know the book is in first person, from Bella's POV, but still...it is possible to present something that the reader can understand while the character doesn't, even in first person. In truth, this is a romance novel with vampires, for teenagers. Three-quarters of the book is about these obsessive feelings they have for each other, which came from a "love at first sight" (or maybe smell) event, rather than developing true feelings for each other. There's no real antagonistic presence until the last hundred pages or so, when some reasonable action develops. Unlikely I will read the rest of the books, or go see the movie. But if you enjoy romance novels, particularly paranormal or teenage romance, then this book will be right up your alley. Rating: - Great Read!!Was full of intrigue .. I liked the way the author developed the characters .. I am thoroughly looking forward to the rest of the series ... and Can't wait for the movie and hoping they are as good as the book ... we shall see ..
