Music : ABBA - Gold: Greatest Hits

I bought this for my sister's Christmas gift. She LIKES ABBA a lot. The CD is filled with their Best Songs from Dancing Queen, Mama Mia, to Fernando all in one CD. If you Like ABBA but don't want to get a bunch of CDs this CD is perfect.

This CD is fantastic! Enjoyable to listen to, even better to exercise to! I ordered this CD after seeing the movie Mama Mia! and I am thrilled with it.

- nice collection of songs. good sound quality
Very good album. Lots of great songs, including some unexpected ones I hadn't known were by ABBA ("Take a Chance On Me", first heard that song on The Office; and "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!", has that great intro you hear a lot).

The sound quality is pretty solid too, especially for them being somewhat older songs.

If you came to this music through the Broadway show or the movie, don't stop there -- check out the originals.

ABBA's success in Europe grew after their song "Waterloo" won the Eurovision Song Contest in the early '70's (in the "Dark Ages" before American Idol / Pop Idol).

This music isn't...famous for depth or anything, but the gentleness of songs like "I Have A Dream" or "Fernando" still sounds pretty sweet to me, decades after I first heard it. The dance tracks are still danceable, and I've always enjoyed the way this group manages to make the words they use a part of the soundscape of the song (voice as...almost a percussion instrument).

This version of their greatest hits was, for me, the best bang for the buck.
